Not On The High Street (NOTHS) is hiring a* Junior Frontend Engineer (JavaScript) *for our Disco Inferno team.

The Role...*
You’ll be working on some of the most visible parts of the website - the homepage, department pages, and the header & footer that surrounds all the other pages. These are areas where high standards of design, usability and performance are hugely important.

As part of a small but empowered team, where agile principles are valued, you’ll deliver features iteratively and frequently, and feedback will be fast. You’ll work closely with other engineers, UX designers and product managers to turn an idea into a reality you can be really proud of.

We have a culture of test-driven development to ensure high levels of confidence in our code, and our CI/CD pipeline will deploy your changes to production, where you’ll be able to monitor its performance.

You’ll be working in a Lerna-powered monorepo TypeScript codebase, composed of multiple Next.js web applications and code packages. Our UI is based on an evolving design library of React styled-components. The applications are hosted on AWS, as are the REST & GraphQL services they depend on.

As part of Team NOTHS, you’ll be able to grow your skills with regular pair programming and coaching, and you’ll even get half a day per week to spend on self-development, with free access to Udemy courses and other resources.

Here’s some of the tech we use (though we don’t expect you to have experience with all these): TypeScript, Yarn, Node.js, Next.js, React, Redux Toolkit, Docker, Jest, React Testing Library, Mock Service Worker, TestCafe, Babel, Webpack, GraphQL.

The NOTHS tech team meets up in our Richmond office once per month for a free lunch and in-person sociable collaboration. The rest of the time you’re free to work remotely or join the wider NOTHS team by making more use of the office, it’s up to you.

  • Any other experience with our current technology stack

Hybrid workplace

So the NOTHS Engineering team get to work flexibly for the majority of the month, and visit beautiful Richmond once a month to ensure we all still get together as one #teamNOTHS. Plus, for 2022 we’ve begun trialling fully remote months in January (to avoid the snow) and August (to enjoy the sun). #teamNOTHS
