Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in Canada or the United States.

The opportunity

Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. Every day, 30 million people and 30,000 teams around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Developer Educator to join the Grammarly for Developers team. This role will educate and empower developers to build the future of written communications. The Developer Educator will create the docs, guides, and tutorials that make it possible for developers to learn, adopt, and build amazing things with Grammarly’s APIs. They will also be an advocate for continuous improvement of our developer experience—by reviewing developer feedback, establishing and monitoring experience metrics, and using our developer tools themselves to better understand and improve our developer products.

Your impact

As a Developer Educator at Grammarly, your day-to-day will involve creating and maintaining documentation, writing code samples, creating new tutorials, refining API reference documentation, and launching documentation for new products and features in collaboration with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams. You will also review the written work of fellow Grammarlians for technical accuracy and developer voice.

You will additionally have opportunities outside day-to-day responsibilities to work with developer customers directly and understand their needs, whether that is by supporting customers as they take new features for a spin, participating in webinars and training classes, or giving talks at conferences.

In this role, you will:

  • Work to continually improve the end-to-end developer experience across Grammarly, particularly as it relates to the process of discovering, learning, and adopting new developer capabilities.
  • Own the content and customer experience for documentation at developer.grammarly.com/docs in collaboration with Product and Engineering.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Design to develop new content in support of the launch of new features.
  • Represent the voice of developers as features are being designed.
  • Be the first to try new features as they are implemented and give usability feedback to the team.
  • Maintain existing content as the product evolves.
  • Work with engineering to develop manual and automated tests and metrics to ensure documentation stays up to date and accurate as the product evolves.
  • Develop code snippets and simple sample applications as supporting artifacts for developers learning Grammarly’s APIs.
  • Along with our Developer Advocate team, review feedback and usage metrics from developers on our documentation experience and develop plans to respond to their feedback to improve the experience.
  • Occasionally contribute to internal documentation and artifacts used to educate and empower internal Sales, Support, and Customer Success teams on API capabilities.
  • Develop and evolve the voice, style, and standards for developer documentation at Grammarly, alongside our Writing & Content Design team.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2–4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Is an educator at heart who loves teaching developers how to build amazing things.
  • Has experience producing technical documentation—technical blog posts, tutorials, READMEs, API docs, etc.—either for an internal or external audience and understands the importance, power, and challenge of great technical documentation.
  • Has experience building simple prototypes and apps in HTML and current client-side JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or similar); is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to write code snippets and sample applications.
  • Can articulate ways the documentation, sample code, and the overall product can be improved to make all developers’ lives easier.
  • Has a point of view on what makes a great documentation experience—how a site should be organized and navigated, how search should work, and how to help developers find the information they need as quickly as possible.
  • Is a data-informed decision-maker who experiments with new ways to help our customers learn our products faster; asks questions, captures metrics, and uses the results to advise where our success stands and opportunities lie.
  • Has passion for technology that inspires them to explore curiosity; loves learning new things.
