Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Front End Web Developer to join our Digital Delivery Team. The incumbent will be an active member of our Digital Content Delivery team that is responsible for building scalable, user-friendly content for our multiple guest-facing digital channels with a strong focus on guest experience. This individual will apply industry standard practices, and techniques to deliver high-quality, responsive digital content to our guests across Canada, and the world! This position requires an energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and contribute to a fast-paced environment. Strong team player skills and excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others are essential.

Key deliverables include:

  • Develop robust, extensible, high-quality code/content that meets business, technical and quality requirements for multiple digital channels and storefronts using Adobe Experience Cloud Products – mainly Experience Manager, Campaign Standard, Analytics

  • Develop and maintain numerous email templates to support marketing initiatives, WestJet Cargo, WestJet Rewards and Travel Agent partners

  • Follow functional and design specifications provided by stakeholders to deliver high impact content to support retail campaign and brand initiatives and digital enhancement projects

  • Develop digital content following creative briefs and requirement documents provided by product owners and other internal client groups

  • Work closely with platform support teams to recommend functionality enhancements and design specifications for Adobe Experience Cloud products and deliverables

  • Work with business stakeholders to define and prepare functional and design specifications of new features/products

  • Support multiple groups across the org in development of self-authoring capabilities for web and email channels

  • Work closely with external vendors for platform troubleshooting and feature enhancements, training etc.

  • Participate in team meetings, daily stand-up, workshops, presentations, and training provided by WJ and partners

  • Work with quality assurance partners to ensure accuracy and consistency of all digital content.

  • Provide technical expertise for WestJet’s product features and environments


Experience and qualifications:

  • Recognized Diploma at a College/Technical School or Bachelor’s Degree (Technical/Business/Science)

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in building websites an enterprise level CMS

  • Mobile first approach to web development using CSS, HTML and JavaScript

  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud (AEM and ACS expertise preferred)

  • Web usability best practices (UI/UX design)

  • Email marketing/development considered an asset

  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, Azure DevOps etc

  • Experience using Agile development methods such as Lean, Scrum, Kanban

  • Development on Windows, Linux and/or MacOS

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills

  • Ability in analytical and problem-solving skills
