JavaScript Job: Backend JavaScript Developer (m-f-d) with Ops expe

Are you ready to roll your sleeves up and join our team in Berlin? You are a backend application developer with experience with JavaScript Frameworks. You have written REST APIs and better still a GraphQL API. You have experience with NodeJS, MongoDB and maybe Meteor. You have an interest in DevOps, load testing, unit tests and automated testing and hopefully have experience with AWS and Docker. You might even have used React on the front end. If that sounds like you, then you've come to the right place! At S&S Media you'll spend your day writing code, discovering new technologies and closely collaborating with the other developers in our small team. The team is dedicated to understanding our users and making innovative applications that tailor our content to whatever device they have to hand.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop GraphQL APIs and lambda functions
• The code you write will have unit tests and you will help us develop integration tests and system tests for our code
• Deploy and maintain our cloud-native backend applications on AWS
• Find great new additions to our toolchain and be always thinking about Ops & automation
• Have Ops responsibility for applications and databases
• (Potentially) some basic maintenance of the JS front-ends of some internal web apps
• Use the right technology to get-the-job-done, and relish using technologies that you haven't tried before
• Enjoy making quick prototypes and be equally happy to throw them away if the concept doesn't work
• Use all the techniques available to you to ensure that your production code is of the highest quality

Your Profile

• You hold a Degree in computer science / informatics or equivalent relevant experience
• You have professional experience in software development
• One year spent developing a backend / API
• You are a proficient NodeJS developer but are willing to use other technologies
• Experience with Meteor, Apollo, VulcanJS and Python would be great
• Ideally you have experience with front-end technologies like Angular and React
• Experience with Stripe, Branch.IO, HLS Video encoding/segmentation, Ansible, NewRelic, StatusCake etc would be an advantage
• You work well in a small team and are willing to learn new technologies with the rest of the team
• Reliable, resilient and highly self-motivated
• You are a fluent English speaker
