--Description--

We're a new 2022 start-up called AppKu™! We want you to join our team… but only if we're a mutual fit of course! We're building an amazing product for organizations to help them "power their process, and empower their teams.™" First - we're here in Milwaukie Oregon - and we want you to be too (or at least in the surrounding commutable area); if you're seeking remote work, sorry! We all work, collaborate, and learn from each other as a team together, and have a very focused (on flexibility) approach to work-life balance that is healthy & fair.

For this position we are seeking someone with at least 5+ years of professional experience (more is great too) with React, Node.JS, JavaScript, some SQL and of course HTML/CSS. Knowledge of any UI/UX frameworks such as Kendo UI, Bootstrap, Foundation, Materialize etc. is helpful. Check out our Tech Stack list further down.

If you have a logical yet creative & visual mind, and are a problem-solver, you'll do great here.

Here's the truth - we're in startup-mode, and it takes work and focus to be successful as a team (including, maybe you!) - we may fail, or take off and become hyper-successful tomorrow. In all reality, it will likely take several years - but we're all here to make it happen, and you should be too! So if you're someone who can put in the time to help craft an amazing company - and be there at the early stages - keep reading!

--Tech Stack--

Here's what we use. The more experience you have with these, the better, but we get it, most folks don't have everything.

  • React & Vue
  • JavaScript & Node.JS
  • HTML/CSS/SCSS
  • Kendo UI (React/Vue/JQuery)
  • Other project-specific languages: C# & Go
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Postgres
  • Concourse (CI/CD)
  • Git
  • Visual Studio Code & Azure Data Studio

--Requirements--

Other than experience in our Tech Stack subject areas, you will be required to…

  • Use a linux computer workstation on a full-time basis.
  • Work with a variety of customers, and participate in discussions.
  • Whiteboard and contemplate possibilities and creative solutions.
  • Solve complex technical problems by yourself and sometimes in collaboration with others.
  • Troubleshoot database, network, and application issues and errors.
  • Program software to produce successful and awesome products.

--Internships--

If you're interested in an internship, just let us know. We sometimes have slots available for 2-3mo. opportunities.

--Q&A--

**

Q: What is the team like?

A: We're a small team (<10 peeps) with a variety of experience levels. Some of us have been programmers for decades, some of us aren't programmers at all (other roles). We're all friendly and professional and like to focus on bettering ourselves in our trade while creating an awesome product and experience for our customers (and, to be honest, ourselves!).

Q: What benefits do you offer?

A: We currently offer holiday, sick, and vacation leave; health, vision, dental insurance coverage up to $500/mo (which is usually 100% for individuals), Trimet and travel reimbursements, $250/yr learning/skill & EFF donation matching.

Q: What is the work-life balance like?

A: Well, we have "core" hours of 10AM to 3PM, Monday through Friday, and you can balance your full time schedule around those hours, as needed, and as you see fit! We have an unwritten rule to not to interrupt or interfere with people's life outside of work. Not only that, but we have an automatic-leave approach to taking time off - awkward approvals and "checking with the boss" are instead relegated to simply blocking the time in the calendar. Paid leave continuously recharges, allowing you to take leave and charge it back up to a maximum over time- no "use it by end of year" scenario.

Q: Is there a ladder to climb?

A: Absolutely - although our organization is somewhat flat, we have a series of ranks Jr, Jr+, Mid, Sr, etc. as well as seniority (years at the company) and badges/marks that play into having a long-term successful career with us that grows in responsibility, benefits, and pay depending on the path you seek.

Q: Do you offer relocation assistance?

A: Sorry, we do not.

Q: Do you offer remote or hybrid?

A: No, we work together as a team in Milwaukie, OR.

Q: We're an agency/staffing firm, should we contact you?

A: No. We hire individuals with no middleman.
